My New Favorite Things

I figure you read my blog. You must be interested in what I like.

#1: Brandon Sanderson. I know I've mentioned the Mistborn novels before but the final book in the trilogy just came out about a month ago and can I just say wow! I highly recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of fantasy, or mystery, or adventure books. Or anyone interested in philosophy or politics. They are beautifully written and so engaging!

#2: 80's music! Ugly clothes, awesome music!

#3. Andy Warhol. He is quite possibly the greatest pop artist to ever live. You can't help but stare when a piece of his work is shown.
#4. The Office. This show is the best written comedy to come out of America ever. Every Thursday you will find me in front of the television patiently waiting for the next episode to start. I mean, who doesn't laugh when Dwight says something off the wall or cringe when Michael tries to create some office unity. I'm not going to lie, I was more interested and involved in Jim and Pam than in my own life for a while. "Do I want to be feared or loved? Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me."
#5. Guantanamo Bay Debates. In the last two weeks I have had 5 debates and several discussions about the status of Gitmo. I haven't gotten so excited about something in a very long time. It's wonderful. :)

She Returns!

So I have decided to start this baby up again! Not that I really have a lot to say or that anyone cares what I think but it will give me the satisfaction of knowing that I am doing something that may someday be an asset to someone.

I've been thinking about a lot of things lately. It is the curse of the young. We have too many decisions to make and consequently think about them to much. It's time for some confessions.

Confession #1: I am changing my major...for the sixth time... I hear a lot of college kids talk about how normal it is switch your major several times before you get the right fit but I'm starting to think that I am not normal. I have gone from Anthropology to a brief flirtation with Physics/Astronomy to Political Science to Acting to Philosophy and now back to Political Science. It's a mess. I have no idea what to do with life apparently. I have pretty much wasted a year and a half of college and about $6000. This cannot be healthy. Hopefully, I've found something I love and maybe I can stick with it. Pray for me.

Confession #2: I am a political junkie. This probably isn't a big surprise to those that know me. But surprisingly enough this blog has not really shown my true colors. Anywho, the presidential election is something I have been invested in since day one. Now, two years is a really long time to obsessed by something and I know a lot of people got sick and tired of hearing about Hillary, McCain, Obama, and that William Ayers guy. But not me! I am not so easily bored. Just ask the hundreds of people who had to listen to me rant about Lord of the Rings for the last 7 years! :) Anyways, I am not looking to ruffle any feathers I just want to say that I am very excited to see what the next four years will bring us. I was an Obama supporter from the beginning. (Even before it was cool to be an Obama supporter.) I realize this makes me a little bias but I just want to say that maybe we should wait until our president has tried enacting some actual policy before we start trying to impeach him. All of the doom criers out there really need to chill out. Nothing can be as bad as the last 8 years. That is all I will say. I could fill several blogs with my political opinions but then I think I would get even less readership than I get on this one... ;)

Confession #3: I am NOT looking forward to the Twilight movie. I hate fangirls.

Confession #4: I am pretty much about to strangle someone right now. I shouldn't use names just in case she or someone she knows stumbles upon my blog. (Highly unlikely) It is kind of a nightmare. I try to be nice and engaging but I get ignored and judged. There has been some rumor spreading as well. It's all high school drama crap. I thought adults were above stupid crap like this but apparently I was wrong. I know there is a reason this person acts this way and that they are dealing with a lot of things. But so are other other people...aka me...and I try to be considerate but it is really to hard when they are not. (Sorry...sometimes you just gotta get stuff off your chest. I will try to keep the personal diatribes to a minimum from now on... ;) )

Confession #5: Boys are stupid. That is all.

Have a lovely time everyone. I will try to be better! I promise! Till then here's a funny picture of me for you all to enjoy!

"Boy! You sure are eccentric!"

Here are just a few pictures from my last show Eccentricities. This was such great fun! I had a small role and it didn't eat my life away but I definitely got my theatre fix! :)

This is the stage. It was kinda small, especially compared to what I'm used to, but it worked great for what we wanted.

The cast party. We were crazy! We danced for like 4 hours. And yes, I am still in costume...I was a hobo...

Just everybody chilling in the greenroom before the show.

Warm-ups. Good times.

More dancing! "Oh, good old Deloy!"

And the winner is...

I have tried to follow the presidential election very closely. And, as you can imagine, yesterday was crazy for me. Super Tuesday was a mess this year. As of right now Hillary Clinton has 50.2% of the democratic votes and Barack Obama has 49.8%. Do you even relize how close that is!? This is one of the most inconclusive polls I have ever heard of! (Which really isn't saying much, but still...) Deligate numbers are even closer. Obama leads Clinton by 13! On the Republican side McCain led with 497 delegates, to 200 for Romney and 141 for Huckabee. Which is slightly more clear cut but everything is still up in air. We still have got to wait a bit longer for the conventions to finish and offical canidates to be choosen. And then the real race begins!

Eccentricities

I was getting bored without a play so I decided to audition for one. After many auditions and many denials I finally made it into a play called Eccentricities . It is being produced by the New Play Project. You check out what they are all about here.

--> New Play Project<---

It is really an amazing program and I am so excited to be involved in it. From the NPP website...
The mission of New Play Project is to write and produce new plays that reflect
the standards of a Utah Valley audience, to give emerging Latter-day Saint
writers a place to produce their work while maintaining their standards and
values, and to launch the most serious of those writers into writing careers.
Our performances are Febuary 29th @ 7:30 and March 1st @ 3:30 and 7:30. They will be held at the Provo Theatre Company (105 E 100 N) Tickets are only $5. It will be much fun for everyone. The plays are freaking halarious! (Trust me ;) )

There is Always Another Secret...

For Christmas my dear roomate, Sierra, purchesed a book for me. It was just a simple token of her appreciation for my amazingness. Little did she know she would create a monster.

The book was called Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, who is a creative writing professer here at BYU. It is about a young girl, named Vin, living in the Final Empire. A kingdom founded 1000 before by the Lord Ruler. The people revere him as a god and believe him to be immortal. But he is a tyrannt. He treats the non-nobles, called skaa, with little, if any respect. And forces them to be slaves and beggers. Vin discovers that she has a special ablity to influnce other poeple's emotions. And is discovered by a theving crew led by the engamitic Kelsier. He explains to her that she is Mistborn. She can "burn" metals to give herself super-human ablities. With the disocovery of her new powers and surrounded by Kelsier (another Mistborn) and his crew of Mistlings (people who can burn single metals instead of them all), Vin begins the impossable task of overthrowing the Lord Ruler and the Final Empire. The book is filled with action, intrigue, and romance.

I just finished the second book in the trilogy, Well of Acsension, and I cannot wait until October when the third, and final book is released. I totally recommend these books to anyone. Fantasy lovers, action/adventure people, anybody! You can go to Brandon Sandersons website to learn more about the world and the charcters.

Updates? Wait? I'm supposed to update my blog?

I guess maybe it's time for me to actually update my blog. :)

School is going really good. I'm taking the best acting class ever! My professer is genius. The rest of my classes are pretty good. Nothing extremly exciting but it is ten million times better than last semester.

So I have a question to ask the like 3 people who actually read this. ;) What do you think of me staying spring semester and just taking summer off? It would only be like two extra months. I've been thinking about it but I can't make up my mind. Any input would be appriciated.

So, I've got cleaning check this week and I'm abouit ready to kill somebody. The RA doing it this month is a freaking Nazi! It's like she doesn't understand we have other things to do besides clean the apartment. Pathetic!

But besides that, everything is going well. No worries! :)

Blogs? Who does that?

It's been almost two months since I updated. The sad thing is, I have nothing to say. Life is pretty lame. Christmas was nice. I got to go home to Rexburg. I hung out with my family and bit and my friends a little bit more. Then I started a new semester down here at BYU. I'm getting into the whole acting major thing. My classes are absolutly amazing! And my professors rock my socks. And I'm in another play. I will probably be hopelessly advertising it very soon. But I have quite a few things I should be doing.....so I'll write more soon...maybe...
